Our Mission is to bring awareness to the statistics of and raise funds for pediatric cancer research throughout the month of September on a community wide level. We are committed to bringing together entire communities to achieve our goal of defeating pediatric cancer one community at a time. All proceeds raised through Painting the Town Gold are donated directly to fund pediatric cancer research for all types of pediatric cancer.
THE REALITIES OF PEDIATRIC CANCER
Worldwide, 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. And in the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease—more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies and diabetes combined.
Two-thirds of children treated for childhood cancer will suffer long-term effects from treatment including loss of hearing and sight, heart disease, secondary cancers, learning disabilities, infertility and more.
Less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research.
THEY SAY IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD. WE BELIEVE THAT IT WILL TAKE A VILLAGE TO CURE A CHILD TOO.
We know that together we can do anything. We believe that Edwardsville-Glen Carbon has the power to strongly contribute to the fight for a cure for pediatric cancer. In fact, since Painting the Town Gold’s inception in 2015, our community has raised over $280,000 for the sole mission of preventing any child from having to battle cancer.
